Marvel Comics released cover images and their friendly nieghborhood checklist of issues that every Marvelite is going to have to own: "Spider-Man: Back in Black," a story that will run from February through May. You know this is for the movie.

Here's how Marvel describes it:

"Hunted, his identity exposed, and those he loves caught in the crosshairs; Spider-Man's life has been a nightmare during Civil War, and the darkest days are yet to come. Now, the most recognizable character in comics finds himself donning one of the most controversial costumes ever as he goes underground and back to his black duds and must fight back to reclaim his life."

Following are the titles involved:

* AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #539-542: Written by J. Michael Straczynski, art and covers by Ron Garney.

* FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #17-21: Written by Peter David, art by Todd Nauck.

* SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #35-39: Written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, art and covers by Angel Medina.

* SPIDER-MAN: BACK IN BLACK HANDBOOK: Written by Mike Fichera, Ronald Byrd, Al Sjoerdsma, Stuart Vandal, Anthony Flamini, Michael Hoskin, Jeff Christiansen, Sean McQuaid and Madison Carter, cover by Aaron Lopresti.

Now when you read it you got to play "Back in Black" on your cd player.

Anybody read the original titles with the black costume from the Secret Wars saga before it became Venom?

In the March 2007 issue of Wizard they've printed some information about Spider-Man's return to the Black Costume.

According to Wizard Spider-Man's return to the Black Costume probably has more to do with his mood than anything else. After the Civil War is over no matter who wins, Spider-Man loses since everyone knows his secret identity now.

The article discusses the fact that Mary Jane had asked Peter never to wear the black costume again, and the fact that it represents a dark time in Peter's life. He almost taken over by the black symbiote costume, it became part of his ultimate enemy Venom, and Kraven wore it after he buried Parker alive.

Back in black has begun and now we know Aunt May is in the hospital, and Spider-Man is wearing the black costume again. He's really ticked too.

Now that his aunt is dying does anyone think Spidey would kill the person responsible?
Posted:  18 Apr 2007 07:00
Does anyone think its true that MJ will seriously question being Spidey's wife in the upcoming comics?
Posted:  18 Apr 2007 07:01
How much of Spidey's popularity is due to his movies?
Posted:  18 Apr 2007 18:35
Spidey never kills. If the bad guy dies it will be because of an accident during a fight scene, but not an intentional killing from Spidey.

MJ may question her marriage as I've heard rumors of Marvel destroying the marriage.

Spidey has enjoyed popularity for decades from comic readers and his many cartoon shows. The movies have taken advantage of his years of loyal fans, and created new fans in the process.

How much different would the world be without Spidey?
Posted:  19 Apr 2007 02:30
If Spidey never existed would there be as many comic book fans today? I mean Spidey was one of the first comic book characters I had ever seen and he was my gateway to the fantastic world of comics. Without him
how popular would other comic book characters be? Without the Spider-Man movie other comic book based movies would also never have been made. its amazing how much impact the wallcrawler has had since he was created

If you go way back into history Superman started the comic book superhero genre, but I think Spidey kept it going. The same thing with the superhero movie explosion. Superman started the superhero blockbuster back in the 70's, but the current superhero movie craze would have never happened without Spider-Man the movie. Superman Returns may have not happened if Spider-Man the movie hadn't come out first.

Now yes spiderman's marriage will be questioned in Joe Quesada's "One More Day" and also M.j's Life. Right now I recent ly got Amzing Spiderman 540 and sensational 37 but I don't plan on buying Friendly because I heard it had a bad storyline and I don't like it to start out with, but Amazing seems to be alot more darker than sensational because in sensational he still even makes jokes, but in amazing he's throwing guys out windows nearly killing guys INTENTIONALLY and
